Re: WONKA ('23)

"A World Of Your Own" is my favorite of the new songs that Neil Hannon wrote for Wonka.

Re: I Just Watched...

I still miss the TCM messageboards, and I thought they were closed for another reason. The entire website had been otherwise strip mined long before (the CFU, the games, the screensavers, and even the shop closed before the boards), and even more than that, a lot of other places got rid of the boar...

Re: I Just Watched...

Blazing Saddles (1974) It remains insanely funny from start to finish. Thank God there's some of us not ashamed to admit enjoying politically incorrect humor! When I showed this to our teen, we audibly gasped at the first N word uttered, I had completely forgotten about it & she was offended. I...

I wonder what "Special Theme" these movies all fall under?

SPECIAL THEME:

Psycho (1960)
King Kong (1933)
Mildred Pierce (1945

Another hint: The movie is a Hollywood "pre-code." Ah, I think I have it now. Might it be 'Waterloo Bridge' (1931) and featuring in a small role, the soon to be big star later in that decade, Bette Davis? Dargo, you are correct! The movie is Frank Whale's Waterloo Bridge , the first of th...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

Does anyone know when A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING will be aired this month on plain old commercial television? (ABC, NBC, CBS) I am having problems with YouTube (cannot get any volume, try as I might) where I used to watch these beloved holiday classics. See: https://www.billboard.com/culture/prod...

Re: SPOILERS!

So I guess an important clue is that you've used the word "Spolier, " which is a French word, perhaps a name? A quick glance might lead someone to believe that the word is "spoiler," but it isn't.. SPOLIER Sorry, SPOLIER was a typo! I meant SPO IL ER Another hint: The movie is a...

Re: SPOILERS!

No, the movie is not Five Fingers. That movie was released in the 2000s. The most recent hint was: There were (at least) two other movies adapted from the same source material. The movie in question was the first. I thought this one would be easy based on the wording of the spolier and then with the...

Re: I feel like Madame X, having travelled around the world just to get back here.

I'm off to London on Tuesday, so will provide some (hopefully interesting) news. Do you have any plans to see Jamie Lloyd's revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Blvd at the Savoy with Nicole Scherzinger as Norma Desmond? I saw Sunset Blvd. last night. What a show, though I have to collect my tho...

That is not the movie, and the movie in question is not a spy movie.

Another hint:

The movie in question was the first.

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

I had never seen any of the shorts with ZaSu Pitts and Thelma Todd, so I went to Youtube and found One Track Minds (1933) ZaSu's face and voice kind of makes me think of Olive Oyl from the Popeye cartoons, I wonder if her voice inspired that character? The character of Olive Oyl was created by E. C...

Re: Explanation of New Shift in Streaming

This topic was touched on in another thread here, where an SSO member posted about an original series they liked suddenly being removed from a streaming platform with only a few days' notice. The series was Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies , whic had been streaming on Paramount+. It was one of the se...
