I don't know if in America, you'll be to aware it's a 100-yrs since war broke out in Europe in 1914. However,I imagine you''l have your doumentaries and drama's on the subject in 2017, when America entered the conflict.
Over here was had a brilliant documumentary series Britain's Great War, written and presented by Jeremy Paxman, who played a cameo of himself in Bridget Jones;Edge Of Reason, telling the story of the build up, the war itself and its end.
Now tonight we're getting a 3 part drama about the 37 days, starting with the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand and the build up to the outbreak of war 37 days later in the eyes of the polititians and Dictators of the period. Tim Piggot Smith plays Prime Minister Herbert Asquith and Sinead Cusack his wife.
Heres a link to the final part of Paxman's great documentary

Hi,
Yes Stuart, those 37 days from June 28th to August 4th changed the world and the course of history for all time.
Whole governments and world areas (countries) were changed and redefined - and not always for the better. And, we are still paying the price today.
Intersting that of the four main countries which started WWI, 3 lost their monarchies and 1 barely survived.

Stuart, there are many memorials planned for this year in recognition of the monumental change begun in 1914 (one that we are still living with and learning from now). Here are a few blogs about this seminal event and its effect on individuals, nations and the arts:
