One that surprised me was when Jane Greer married Rudy Vallee although they were divorced within 7 months.

hollywood marriages

re odd couples. Gloria Swanson - Wallace Beery. Wonder what Joe Kennedy thought about that.

The brothers publicity dept spent some time promoting pat Lane's engagement to a studio employee' and so they weere married and lived happily for about 24 hours. I'd love to know what they talked about on their honeymoon. yeah, I'm nosey plus I had a case on her at the time ( didn't everyone? ) ... mel

Hey, Mongo, nice photos of Dogs of the Cinema! Would a pat on the head for "Strongheart" aka Etzel von Oeringen, a German Shepard who paved the way for Rinty and others in the silents in the '20s, be warranted?

Btw, did anyone ever look more conceited than Warren Beatty?

What she said! (How does she always get on here first??)

Couple of things I noticed about the canine pix: judging from Rin Tin Tin's lack of markings on his muzzle, as well as his shallowness of stop (break between muzzle & forehead, and conformation & placement of his ears, I would say that he was not a purebred German Shepherd Dog . . if I had to guess I'd say he was possibly 1/4 Belgian Tervuren.
And what's up with the paperwork in Asta's chair pocket? I guess we can assume it was annotated scene breakdowns for the handler . . unless Skippy was indeed reviewing a new screen treatment!

Why was Warren Beatty so conceited? Having Natalie Wood for a girlfriend would certainly help I'm sure, he was probably overly mothered. Still he was handsome but he doesn't project that extra something that makes the difference between a pretty face and fluttering heart.

Moira and CCfan:

I've said it before, I can't figure the attraction of Warren Beatty. At first glance he looks handsome, but something about him just turns me off. I just suppost Carly Simon knew what she was talking about when she wrote and recorded You're So Vain. It's also hard to believe he's Shirley MacLaine's brother. She seems so open and quirky while his nose seems to be up in the air above everyone he meets.

I always thought the song was about Mick Jagger. Gee, you learn something new every day around here!!!!

Back in the mid-70's, when the song was still charting, the commonest theories in North Central New England were that the subject of Carly's criticism was either Kris Kristoffersen, or Jack Nicholson.
Although I believe Ms. Simon has never committed herself to a confirmation of the identity of her lyric inspiration, the overwhelming opinion for the past twenty years seems to be that it was indeed Beatty, whom Carly was known to be dating just prior to meeting, & marrying, James Taylor.

I went to the Guru of Music, Mr Dewey himself, and he posted a link on the Record Party thread. Ms. Simon definitely, positively confirmed.....she wasn't telling! so we all get to choose which one we think it might be....Around here, even the dj's on the radio claim Mick. Ms. Simon is certainly not a kiss and tell kind of girl!

Huh, I always thought the song was about James Taylor, himself.

I've heard many theories about Miss Simon's song including Paul McCartney, he doesn't fit as well as Mick Jagger or Warren Beatty.

Thanks for the child star pictures, I'm particularly fond of Dickie Moore.

Jeebus! How much pasta could Mario Lanza have burned off? That looks like he's got (maybe) 5lb weights on the bar! :-) But, he sure looks cute!
