Janis sings “Ain’t nobody gonna dog me down.” Muddy sings “I’ll make love to you woman in five minutes time.”

That remains monumental. Listening now. I listen to BO DIDDLEY doing that number which is also awesome yet Pop. MUDDY is epic.

I haven't listened to HOLE. They were good... much more Pop on that record. The cover reminds me of Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables...
Re: What are you listening to?
This is a top notch version for sure. Studio recording but it feels like LIVE . I’m pretty sure that is Johnny Winter doing the call and response,Allhallowsday wrote: ↑January 18th, 2023, 10:42 pmThat remains monumental. Listening now. Re: What are you listening to?
I have a video I want to post but I don't remember the title of the song see if you can help.
The first line is something like "Just because you have a ring on your finger and think you cannot go out any more" Famous song, many recordings.
There is a particular vid of this song that is great.
I googled the quotes above but I did not get the title of the song.

Could the song possibly be the 1963 hit Wives and Lovers by Burt Bacharach and Hal David and recorded by Jack Jones? It has the lyric "Don't think because there's a ring on your finger, You needn't try anymore."

Yes, you got it. Thanks. I posted the below link at least a couple times in TCMWorld and was thinking about this morning.EP Millstone wrote: ↑January 19th, 2023, 1:03 pmlaffite, laffite wrote: ↑January 19th, 2023, 12:37 pm I have a video I want to post but I don't remember the title of the song see if you can help.

Re: What are you listening to?
I love Wives and Lovers (ditto Roses and Lollipops).
Regarding Cécile McLorin Salvant's rendition, she was interviewed by Fresh Air host Terry Gross who described Wives and Lovers as "one of the all-time, like, sexist songs" and doesn't "know how this particular song happened" by the "fabulous songwriting team" of Burt Bacharach and Hal David and asked Salvant "why in the world" she recorded it.
Feminists who get their undies in a bunch and foam at the mouth about "sexist" stuff that existed before "Womens Lib" (e.g., Wives and Lovers and Barbie) set my teeth on edge.
