Re: I Just Watched...

I always enjoyed how Sandra was basically playing Gidget in Imitation of Life.

Re: I Just Watched...

Yes, I did. Thanks for posting that. When you mentioned her dancing my mind jumped to a different movie (don't know which one off hand, probably earlier) where she dances, not so disciplined as this one. In the other, she seemed to jump around haphazardly while wearing an unbecoming outfit. Perhaps...

Re: I Just Watched...

Life Begins (1932). [...] I did not enjoy this. Part of why is that Loretta's character spends a lot of time in a hospital bed. The charm has been quashed between sheets. Story wise there is a sense of morbidity about the whole business I couldn't shake. This does not mean that I am insensitive to ...

I have seen that Joan Crawford dance and didn't care for it. There was no art but she sure seemed to enjoy it. Your post reminds me of...

Re: I Just Watched...

If you haven't seen a young Abby Dalton in Stakeout on Dope Street before, I highly recommend the movie.

Re: I Just Watched...

My Forbidden Past (1951). Absurdist comedy starring Ava Gardner as a turn-of-the-century New Orleans belle from a family that's fallen like Blanche Dubois. She's fallen in love with a research professor at Tulane (Robert Mitchum, hilariously miscast), but her aunt (Lucile Watson) and cousin (Melvyn...

Re: I Just Watched...

I have a debilitating fear of suffocation and can't watch movies that contain any heavy water scenes.
So The Heroes of Telemark is right out for you, too. What a shame.

And why is that a problem?

In all seriousness and without an ounce of malice intended, why do other peoples' opinions matter to you?
You mean my opinion isn't important to you?

Re: February 2023 Schedule Posted, Rita Moreno is SOTM

I like your analysis. These days TCM is all about the promotion. The only question is that 80 for Brady is a Paramount production. If it was Warner, then it would be a slam dunk. They promote a Paramount movie in exchange for getting the rights to run certain movies Paramount holds. (That's my educ...

It was a really small wordless part, but she was in Singin in the Rain for a few moments. And her striptease scene in Marlowe is certainly an eye-opener.
If you really want an eye-opener, try Carol Channing's striptease in Skidoo.

Two films I associate most with vomiting: An Unmarried Woman Knives Out There is upchucking in both Postcards from the Edge and the Help, but you don't actually see it happen there. You actually made it through An Unmarried Woman . With apologies to the women here, to me it's one of those movies th...
